Thinking about self publishing!
I have been reevaluating my options for publication. I want to see my book in print but I can’t seem to find the right agent. I’m thinking about self publishing. I know that some people look down on that but it’s becoming more common than people think. I have been looking into it. and just because you self publish doesn’t mean that you won’t get onto the bookshelf in your local book store. You can have your books distributed by Ingram and they can get you into book stores. You can register on Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites.
There is a lot more work that you have to do as an author like marketing your own book. I’ve heard that it’s like running a small business. I have also heard about people starting off by self publishing their own books and then once they have a following they traditionally publish. It could be a way to get my start. besides it’s not like I spend every day writing and deadlines give me a headache. I want to be successful but I want my books to be original and I can’t imagine a new world as fast as other people can. I do have some feelers out so I’m hoping that something comes of that.
Don’t get me wrong I would love to self publish but I’m not getting my hopes up. I just don’t know if I’m looking in the wrong place for a champion of my book. That champion might just be me. No one is more passionate about it. I believe that it’s good enough to be published but I my be the one that has to do it just to show everyone else that passed what they are missing out on. I’m talking my time and learning about it so that I can do it right. I have a few tag lines for it and I’m hoping that I can use them at some point.
Just to give you an idea, here is my favorite tag line that I came up with, “The line between fiction and reality blurs when a podcast becomes a deadly game.”
I love that tag line. Well, I’m going to research this stuff a little while longer while I wait to see these feelers came back because you never know maybe a publisher will want to publish me. I’m hoping to hear back from them by the end of January. Meanwhile, I hope that everyone had a good Thanksgiving and I hope that you have a Merry Christmas. Happy Reading!
